Advanced Strength Training
Strength training is
an art and a passion. It continues to evolve, and
every year more secrets are
unlocked on what the most effective strength training
exercises are, and how to
perform them to ensure the best possible response from
your body. I keep up
with the latest trends and developments in exercise
science and strive to
educate my clients about only the safest and the most
effective strength
training exercises. Say goodbye to wasteful abdominal
routines, boring monotonous
cardio, and fluffy isolation exercises. Train smarter,
burn more kilojoules of
energy per session; raise your metabolism and burn fat
faster. I train my
clients to lift progressively heavier weights, to lift
with the best possible
technique and to embrace the combined benefits of
strength training. 2. Personalised Programming
The exercise programs
I prescribe my clients are unique and individual to my
clients needs. All
programs take into account a client’s health and
wellness, weight training
experience and level of conditioning. I develop
programs for teen clients’
right through to the elderly. The first session helps
to identify personal
goals, pre-existing medical conditions, injury,
illness or ailments, basic
circumference measurements and optional body-fat
analysis. Sleep, hydration,
stress and other lifestyle factors are discussed. I
continually monitor existing
conditions, and implement management strategies to
help a client rehabilitate
from injury, improve functional movement, flexibility,
posture, core stability,
muscular imbalance, chronic illness, manage
disability, and have excellent
experience training clients throughout pregnancy. With
your permission, I will
work with your physiotherapist, osteopath, general
practitioner or other health
professional wherever required to help you reach your
potential faster. If an
exercise is not appropriate, substitute exercises can
be organised on the spot,
and programs will be periodised, so that amongst the
most effective exercises
to get results, you will also get a variety of
training modes. For the best
results I recommend completing 2 x 30min personal
training sessions with me each
week. For quicker progress, exercise outside of
sessions is strongly encouraged
– including participation in sport, recreational
activities and group exercise. 3.
Body Transformation
First and foremost, achieving results is about expending more kilojoules of energy than your consume. Rapid weight loss is unhealthy, so true progress will happen over a longer period of time. This can only be achieved through a balance of lifestyle factors including health, physical conditioning, and exercise routine, sleeping habits, food choices, proper hydration, stress and other genetic predispositions. I assess all of these factors. I can recommend relevant health professionals to assist you further in your quest for improved body image. To ultimately result in body transformation - strength training will increases lean muscle tissue, which metabolises fat faster, whilst making you feel stronger, firmer, and more energised. Body transformation is also about how you feel. My clients often tell me that their back aches and pains have gone, that their sore joints don’t play up anymore, that they are better at their sports and recreational activities, and that they have the best mobility that they’ve had in years. My clients get more active outside the gym as a result of their training.

Willing
and committed to take part in strength training, and
regular exercise outside
of personal training appointments. Not
afraid of stepping outside of a comfort zone, or of
delayed onset muscle
soreness that often accompanies a strength training
session – and is usually
more severe after the first few sessions. Not
exercise addicts. My clients must embrace adequate
recovery between strenuous
workouts. All age groups and levels of fitness welcome. My clients range from 12-70 years of age, beginners, intermediate and advanced.

It is awesome to have a goal to train towards, or some sort of specific physical challenge to give you something to look forward to. In 2012, I’m looking into introducing adventure day trips and activities into my personal training package. To organise discounted activities for my clients including rock-climbing, kayaking, caving, hiking, snow sports, and other team building experiences that pop up throughout the year.
